OUR SERVICES: Welcome

Who We Help

We offer counselling and psychotherapy to a wide variety of clients from all walks of life for a broad range of personal and psychological issues.

We support all kinds of people, from those struggling with stress and anxiety, to those seeking personal development, greater fulfillment and happiness, or those wanting to build their confidence and self-esteem. We believe everyone is equally important in their own right, no matter what background they are from, and no problem is too great or too small.

We also see people who simply want to ‘fine tune’ aspects of their lives, such as those who wish to clarify career or personal goals and those who seek to improve their health. You do not necessarily need to have anything ‘wrong’ with you to benefit from a talking therapy.

Common client groups we work with:

- Working or Non-Working Adults (aged 18+)

- Older Adults, Retirees (aged 65+)

- Students / International & Overseas Students

- Ethnic Minorities

- Expatriates

"You don't necessarily need a diagnosis..."

Our goal is to help you make more of yourself whether you are ‘well’, ‘healthy’ or, like many of us, ‘troubled’ in some way. A medical diagnosis isn’t a necessity to access our services. We try to minimise using diagnostic terms or labels for people because we believe in working with you, and not your “illness”.

How We Can Help

How We Work

What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a type of talking therapy that looks at how we think (our thoughts, beliefs and attitudes) affect our feelings and our actions or behaviours. It combines cognitive therapy (examining the things you think) and behaviour therapy (examining the things you do).

By making links between what we do, think and feel, CBT can help us to understand what might be causing or maintaining negative moods or patterns. CBT offers a better understanding of cognition and how thought patterns can lead to distress and unhelpful behaviors. It can then provide people with the "tools" and coping skills to identify and adapt thoughts for improved mood. CBT has a reputation for being one of the best evidence-based practices available. It is well known for its efficacy and short-term, goal-oriented approach.

How does CBT differ from other types of therapy?

CBT is often referred to as being goal-focused as it can help individuals to define goals, plan ways to accomplish them and learn how to handle any obstacles along the way.

Depending on your problem and how much you put in to changing your thoughts and behaviours, you can often achieve or make significant progress in a relatively short number of sessions. We encourage individuals to take an active role in their therapy, both during and in-between sessions, in order to get the most of their therapy.

There is an emphasis on self-help. As opposed to more traditional approaches that just involve “talking”, CBT focuses on the acquisition of skills and techniques, so that the individual leaves feeling more equipped at facing problems, and are essentially able to manage and help themselves better in the future.

Individual Face to Face Sessions

Typically, sessions involve one-to-one conversations each lasting 50 mins that occur on a weekly or fortnightly basis. All sessions are provided by fully trained and accredited psychotherapists and sessions take place at our sites on Hong Kong Island.

Telephone & Email Support

Research has shown that therapy conducted over the telephone can just be as effective in reducing symptoms as face-to-face therapy. Telephone support may be best suited to those who have difficulty travelling to our offices and/or have limited means in being able to benefit from our video calling support. Through offering multiple ways of accessing therapy, this enables us to reach a wider audience who otherwise may not have been able to access support. Contact us today to find out more.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Our primary specialism is offering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, however our therapists also have training in other approaches and techniques such as Mindfulness and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), which can be integrated and adapted to treatment depending on the individual’s learning style and preferences.
